The Task Force is considering a legislative effort to appoint individuals with developmental disabilities to the county boards of DD.
In its report, the Task Force found that state law does not preclude a person who receives services from their local county board from being appointed to it – but neither does it mandate or require the appointment of a person with a developmental disability.
The Task Force believes that a legislative effort is in order to require individuals with developmental disabilities be appointed to the boards of DD.
Recommendations:
The Task Force recommends that state law be amended to require the appointment of four individuals with developmental disabilities on county boards of DD.
If the Task Force pursues this effort, we’ll need you to get involved by writing to your state legislator, providing testimonials, and submitting editorials in your local paper. Stay tuned for more information!
